Old Durham Gardens

Old Durham Gardens were established more than 350 years ago. They can be found less than a mile east of Durham City Centre. Here you will find a beautiful walled garden and terraces running down to a restored orchard. The gardens can be reached through a number of walks, including a very pleasant route through Pelaw Woods. They provide a charming public space for everyone to enjoy. The Gardens are open between 2-4pm every Thursday throughout the year, and every Sunday 2-4pm from the May onwards. Volunteers enjoy coming to the gardens weekly, fortnightly or monthly for a couple of hours to help with a wide range of tasks.
