Friends of Bearpark Woods

Bearpark Colliery Woods were created in 1995 on the site of the former Bearpark Colliery, about a mile to the west of Durham City. The Friends of Bearpark Woods were formed in 2014 and work to enhance the woods for wildlife and for the local community, working closely with the owners of the site, Durham County Council.

Having recently been awarded funding to enable members of the group to be trained in chainsaw use, the group offers timber harvested as a result of habitat improvement work as wood fuel.
